about Friends of Stoneham Scouting

"The mission of Scouting America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law."

Even though Scouting has existed in Stoneham for over 100 years, until recently, there hasn't been a concerted effort to make sure that the youth of our community have access to the program no matter their financial means. In 2023 the Friends of Stoneham Scouting was founded to fix that. Made up of long-time Scouting volunteers and alumni of our town's Scouting programs, FoSS has worked to create fundraising mechanisms that allow our Scouting units to achieve the above mission for every youth.

Scouting America is the nation’s foremost youth program of character development and values-based leadership training. Through our world-class programs, we bring together youth of every race, religion, ethnic background, and economic status in programs to develop character, citizenship, and fitness. Prejudice, intolerance and unlawful discrimination are unacceptable within the ranks of Scouting America. Units in Stoneham welcome all eligible members, regardless of race, gender, religion, ethnic background, orientation, or economic status.  Learn more about the organization's membership standards here.
